CRIS Mtungwazi has been elected as the new ZIFA Southern Region chairperson.
Mtungwazi, who got nine votes. beat former Warriors and Highlanders striker, Zenzo Moyo who polled four votes.
Former chairman Lloyd Munhanga received one vote while Tawanda Tali got two votes.
For the vice chairman position Tafadzwa Mutowa won with 13 with Martin Mhlanga getting three votes and Elton Sinyosi got zero votes with one spoilt vote.
Speaking after his victory, Mtungwazi emphasised the importance of developing the sport from grassroot level.
“We will prioritize the development of junior football. Our youth are tye foundation of our future success. We will invest in grassroots programmes, training facilities and coaching education to ensure our young talent is nurtured, empowered and given every opportunity to excel,” said Mtungwazi.
