UPDATED: Kombi accident death toll rises

Ten people have now been confirmed dead after a commuter omnibus they were travelling in veered off the road and hit a tree at the Chinhamo area along Seke Road today.

National spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi confirmed that two more people died on admission to Chitungwiza Central Hospital while the other one died at Parirenyatwa Hospital.

The three were among the four who were injured and taken to Chitungwiza Central Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the kombi only identified as Masiwa died on the spot and police have attributed the accident to speeding.

He was driving a Toyota Hiace registration number ACQ 5160 and heading towards Chitungwiza from the city centre.
