The swearing in of newly-elected Members of Parliament has been postponed to September 3 to make way for the United Nations World Tourism Organisation General Assembly and the Harare Agricultural Show. The ceremony was initially slated for Tuesday. Both the UNWTO General Assembly and the show are running concurrently until month-end.

Clerk of Parliament Mr Austin Zvoma told journalists in Harare this morning that most of the legislators-elect will be in Victoria Falls for the General Assembly, which will be officially opened by President Mugabe tomorrow.

“The swearing in which was expected this Tuesday has been postponed to next week on the 3rd of September to pave way for other national processes which will be taking place this week,” he said.

“The bulk of our MPs-elect will be in Victoria Falls and some attending the annual Agricultural Show in Harare and now we are waiting for the closure of those two important events.”
