adminChief Superintendent Paul Nyathi yesterday said on June 19, a report of armed robbery was reported at Glen Norah Police Station.
“One of the constables carried out investigations, leading to the arrest of the suspect Bryn Makawa,” he said. During investigations the constable was approached by Makawa’s sister who offered US$200 bribe to facilitate his release.
A trap was then set and last Monday, Makawa’s sister went to the police station with the money and she was arrested.
Chief Supt Nyathi urged suspects’ relatives to desist from interfering with any investigations and avoid bribing the police as they risked being arrested.
“We would also want to warn members of the public involved in any corrupt activities that the long arm of the law will catch up with them,” he said.
