Newly-elected Shurugwi North National House of Assembly representative Ronald Robson Nyathi has promised to deliver first class services to his constituency in-line with the pro- development thrust of the Zanu-PF party.
Cde Nyathi who polled 17 282 votes, hailed people in the constituency for supporting him, something which he said demonstrated the trust and confidence they had in the party.
“I want to thank God. I want to thank the people of Shurugwi North constituency and ultimately our party Zanu-PF for it has emerged as a tried and tested political giant. I could not have been able to garner over 17 000 votes had I not been in Zanu-PF,” he said.
Nyathi defeated seven other candidates who included Chiwisa Yasin of ZDU, Connick Mcdonald — an independent, Manungo Onismus Munyaradzi of MDC Alliance, Mfiri Francis of PRC, Mkarakate Edward of ZIPP and Thulani Ndebele of NPF.
He promised that he was going to make an impact in the new Government as he had already laid down plans to transform Shurugwi.
“The best way to thank the electorate will be to deliver,” he said. “I have a plan that incorporates computerisation of schools and growing our town. We are at the centre of the Great Dyke and the minerals from here have developed other countries such as Germany and France.
“We are now saying from now on, Shurugwi must develop into a competitive town through infrastructure development. We still have untapped mineral wealth in the Great Dyke.”
Nyathi also promised to improve small scale mining activities by lobbying for the establishment of processing and mineral value addition plants.
“My party’s vision for development really ignites my efforts towards improving my constituency. Zanu-PF has transformed itself into an economic development oriented political party hence I am invigorated to lobby for Shurugwi to become an economic processing zone and that is possible.”
