newly-elected National Assembly member for Beitbridge East Constituency Albert Nguluvhe of zanu-pf has pledged to fulfil his pre-elections promises that are in line with the party’s 2018 elections manifesto.
In an interview yesterday, he said he was already on the ground facilitating the upgrading of a road leading to Chief Matibe’s homestead in Madaulo area.
“I am not going deviate from my campaign promises made to people in the constituency. In addition I want to thank those who voted for zanu-pf and its candidates during the harmonised elections.
“There is no excuse for one not to deliver,” he said.
He said he will work with incoming councillors to develop urban areas.
“Beitbridge residents should be the winners, we need to engage with the local authority to stop issuing stands that do not have water and sewer facilities. Let’s focus on the outstanding projects before we start many others.
“Another matter, I will urgently take to Government is the release of the Beitbridge Development Fund to boost infrastructure development in our town. Other areas are benefiting from community ownership schemes, as such Beitbridge residents must also benefit from the revenue realised at the border post.”
Cde Nguluvhe said he was already pushing development agencies for the drilling of more boreholes in the rural component of the constituency.
He said he will engage the Beitbridge Rural District Council over the disbursement of CAMPFIRE funds, which will be used on key community development projects.
He also said there was an urgent need to upgrade Beitbridge District referral hospital and equip it with more technology, staff and drugs among other resources.
“We have one referral hospital, which serves the whole district and therefore there is a need to resource it and we also need to build another major health institution at either Chaswingo (Ward 3) or Lutumba (Ward 5),” he said.
Cde Nguluvhe said he will soon be distributing breeding bulls to the community to boost the quality of their cattle.
He said it was also critical for Government and its partners to pool resources towards the construction of science labs in rural schools.
