WE have another AFCON finals date with Mohamed Salah.
The Warriors will take on the Pharaohs of Egypt at the AFCON finals for the third time at the biggest football tournament on the continent.
Zimbabwe and Egypt were paired together in Group B of the 2025 AFCON finals at the draw held in Rabat, Morocco, last night.
South Africa and Angola, who were impressive in the qualifiers, are the other teams in the group.
Until Egypt were picked to be included in the group, it looked like a SADC festival as it had Zimbabwe, South Africa and Angola.
The Warriors and Bafana Bafana are also featuring in the same group for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Bafana Bafana won the first leg 3-1 in Bloemfontein.South Africa have improved in recent months under the guidance of their Belgian coach Hugo Broos.
But, a Battle of Limpopo showdown can never be predictable and the Warriors, who were the lowest-ranked team in the group, can fancy their chances of an upset.
New ZIFA president Nqobile Magwizi was at the draw and his presence was acknowledged by a CAF official who was conducting the draw.
The Pharaohs were the first team the Warriors played at the AFCON finals in Tunisia in 2004.
The Egyptians won that match 2-1 and it will forever be remembered for the incredible last-gasp miss by Wilfred Mugeyi.
The two teams then played in a friendly when Egypt hosted the 2006 AFCON finals.
When Egypt hosted the Nations Cup finals again in 2019, the tournament’s opening game was against the Warriors and the Pharaohs won 1-0.
