DOUGLAS ‘British’ Mloyi, the Highlanders legend, has been appointed onto the club’s board.
He was appointed on Sunday at the club’s annual meeting held in Bulawayo.
His appointment is part of the club’s on-going commitment to leadership change and regular rotation of office bearers, ensuring that fresh perspectives continue to shape the future of the team.
Mloyi joins Nkululeko Fuzwayo, who runs a law firm in Francistown, on the board.
Since Justice Mathonsi stepped down two years ago, there has not been a person with a legal background on the board.
As per Article 13.3 of the Highlanders constitution, the two leadership arms of the club, the board and executive, identified individuals who were presented to members for confirmation at the club’s annual meeting.
Mloyi said he is ready to deliver in his new role.
“I’m deeply honoured and humbled by the trust the club members have placed in me.
“Highlanders is a part of who I am and I’ve always believed in the strength of this club and its people.
“This new role gives me a chance to give back to the club that shaped my career and my life.
“I’m excited for what lies ahead and I look forward to working alongside my fellow board members to continue the tradition of excellence at Highlanders.
“Bosso has been a family to me and now it’s my turn to help guide it to even greater heights.”
Mloyi’s journey with Highlanders has been nothing short of legendary.
Mloyi’s status as a “one-team” footballer and his unparalleled dedication to Highlanders has made him a fan favourite, with his contributions to the club still talked about fondly to this day.
