A MAN from Dangamvura’s Pegasus Section will fork out $100 in fines after he assaulted his sister, her husband and their children over a 50-cent bond coin.George Chiku (30) pleaded guilty to domestic violence when he appeared before Mutare magistrate, Ms Tracy Muzondo last Friday.

Representing the State was Mr Fletcher Karombe.

Chiku approached his sister Rumbidzai Chiku on July 26 and asked for 50 cents, but his request was turned down.

He went to Rumbidzai’s husband and asked for the same amount to no avail.

“The accused person became violent and started shouting abusive words to the couple. When he was asked to leave, he started assaulting Rumbidzai. Her husband tried to rescue her, but the suspect turned on him and assaulted him as well.

“He went on to harass their children and splashed cement all over the house,” said Mr Karombe.

Asked on why he acted in that manner, Chiku apologised and blamed alcohol for the wrongdoing.

“Your Worship, I was drunk and I did not know what I was doing. I beg the court and my family to forgive me,” he said.

Ms Muzondo ordered him to pay $100 fine by August 17, failure of which he faces three months imprisonment.
