THE two men, who allegedly robbed the parents of Sports Minister Kirsty Coventry at their home in Harare, are brothers.
Mike and John Nongwe were formally placed on remand on Saturday.
They were initially brought to court on Friday where the State successfully applied for a warrant for further detention to allow the police to finalise investigations.
The police intended to recover a firearm, which was used in the robbery, which was being said to have been Bulawayo.
It has since been recovered.
The court heard that on March 11, at around midnight, the two broke into Robert Edwin Coventry’s Glen Lorne home.
Coventry and his wife, Lynette Shirley, were sleeping when they were awakened by one of the robbers who opened their bedroom door and switched on the lights.
They allegedly manhandled Coventry.
They dragged his wife to the spare bedroom where they broke the gun cabinet and rounds of ammunition.
They stole envelopes with US$15,000, US$10,000, US$1,200, US$250 and R10000.
They also stole jewellery.
Earlier that night, Zenzo Ncube heard some unusual sounds on his kitchen door and went to check.
When he opened his door, he was confronted by three men, who were armed with an unidentified firearm and crowbars.
He shouted for help but was subsequently manhandled by the trio who pointed the firearm at him while ordering him to remain quiet.
The trio force marched him back into his house where they ransacked the house and stole four cellphones, an HP Pavilion laptop, a Seiko wrist watch, a pair of blue shorts, two pairs of sneakers, a pair of male formal shoes and US$130.
