‘Brother’s behaviour inappropriate’

I AM a 17-year-old girl, and I’m having trouble with my brother who is 15. The problem is, he’s always being pervy towards me. I catch him looking at my breasts, and if I have a short skirt on, he’ll pinch my bum. I told my best friend about this and she said I should knee him where it hurts. One day, when my brother grabbed my bum, I kneed him as hard as I could and he dropped to the floor in pain.

It felt good at the time and I think I did the right thing, but now my brother won’t talk to me at all, plus it got me into trouble with my parents.

He’ll get over it. He’s 15 and his hormones are raging.

I don’t think this is about you – I think it’s more to do with how he feels about girls in general at the moment.

Nevertheless, it’s entirely inappropriate and he needs to learn boundaries – your parents must enforce them.

If he behaves in the same way towards other girls, the likelihood is that he’ll get kneed where it hurts again.

Do your parents realise what he’s doing? I think you need to explain it to them, even if you find it embarrassing, and tell them how it makes you feel.

If they thought you’d just had a silly argument, then that’s why they’re annoyed with you.

Dear Coleen
I’m 21 and my boyfriend is 20. To cut a long story short, I don’t love him any more and I’m in love with someone else who I’ve been seeing for about two weeks. My boyfriend has no idea I’m being unfaithful.

I want to end things between us but the thing is I work for his mum and I’m worried she might fire me. That can’t happen because I really need this job.

Also, he has exams coming up and he might fail them if I dump him. What do I do?

Coleen says
The only bit of this letter that’s not selfish is worrying about his exams. Staying with someone you’re cheating on because you’re worried you’ll lose your job is a selfish attitude.

You’re young and I’m not judging you for meeting someone else – that’s life – but you need to do the decent thing. What else are you going to do? Stay with him until you’re 65 and retire because you need the job?

You know it’s unrealistic and unfair to keep him hanging on. Yes, his mum might let you go if her son is very upset, but she might not. So don’t dig yourself any deeper. If she finds out you’re cheating on him, she definitely won’t take kindly to that.

If his exams are imminent, then you could wait until he’s finished, but don’t see this other lad in the meantime.

In my opinion you should end it as soon as possible. He’s going to be hurt either way and he’ll be even more devastated if he finds out you’ve been seeing someone else behind his back. -Online.
