A PRISON officer and teacher was on Friday murdered at a nightclub in the Central Business District of Harare.
Maxwell Mananga, a teacher at Harare Central Prison Primary School, was murdered following a scuffle with an unidentified man at a night club at the corner of Mbuya Nehanda Street and Nelson Mandela Avenue.
He was 45.
He was in the company of his brother, Trymore, and his workmate, Chenjerai Kim.
The three were on their way home when the man, who had left the night club after the scuffle, emerged from some dark spot.
He attacked Maxwell who slumped onto the ground and became unconscious.
The attacker disappeared from the scene and Maxwell sustained a deep cut on the back of his head.
He was ferried to West End Hospital and later to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The incident took place around 9pm.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case.
“Police are investigating a murder case that took place at a night club along Mbuya Nehanda Street on Friday night,” said Insp Chakanza.
