LUCK ran out of two Buhera-based brothers who stole a cow from a fellow villager and were busted after selling it to another villager for a suspiciously low price.
This prompted alert villagers to inform the police.
The brothers – Thomas (23) and Munashe Mukwazhi (21) – of Dune Village, Chief Nyashanu, allegedly stole a cow valued at US$330 from Gladys Murwisi.
Murwisi did not notice that her cow had been stolen and only came to know it five days later when the police brought the Mukwazhi brothers to her kraal for indications.
Acting Manicaland police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, confirmed the case.
“On June 5, 2026, at around 6am, ZRP Muzokomba received a tip-off to the effect that the two accused persons were selling a cow at a very cheap price at Matsetsa Business Centre in Buhera.
“This prompted suspicion that the cow could have been stolen.
“Police officers were deployed into the area in search of the accused persons.
“Police got information that a black-and-white cow had been sold to Tafadzwa Marimazhinji of Manyika Village, Chief Nyashanu.
“They proceeded to Marimazhinji homestead for enquiries.
“Marimazhinji admitted that he was in possession of the said cow and that he had bought it from the Mukwazhi brothers.
“Police made several enquiries and discovered that there was no ZRP Stock Clearance done and there was no Veterinary Cattle Movement permit.”
He added:
‘Marimazhinji then led police to Dune Village where the accused persons reside, the accused persons were located and arrested.
“Upon being interviewed the two admitted stealing the cattle from Murwisi’s kraal on May 31, 2026, and sold it to Marimazhinji.”
