TWO Zvishavane men were arrested after pouncing on a fellow imbiber, stabbing and robbing him on his way home.

According to a statement from the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), “Two men from Chirere, Zvishavane, Emmanuel Mukungure (24) and Dainley Dayimani (20) have each been sentenced to three years effective imprisonment by the Zvishavane Magistrates’ Court after being convicted of robbery.”

The court heard that on 1 November 2025, the victim was enjoying beer at Chirere Business Centre when the duo began harassing and threatening him. Other patrons restrained them, but the two were far from done.
Later that night, the men lay in wait for their target. Armed with a knife, they ambushed him on his way home. “The first offender held the victim’s hands while the second offender kicked him several times with booted feet and stabbed him once on the right heel,” reads the NPAZ statement.

The thugs made off with US$162 and a Villon cellphone worth US$60. Their victim was left nursing a deep heel wound and broken ribs.
After the brutal attack, the injured man managed to reach his employer, who helped him file a police report. The quick action led to the arrest of the two robbers.

The pair was sentenced to four years in jail, with one year suspended on condition of good behaviour, leaving them to serve three years effectively.
The NPAZ applauded the community for refusing to be silent in the face of crime. “This conviction demonstrates the unwavering commitment to ensuring community safety. The NPAZ commends citizens who come forward to report crimes and work with police to ensure offenders face justice.”
