Brutal hubby stones, whips wife to death… dumps her in shallow grave

A BLOODTHIRSTY husband turned his home into a house of horrors, bludgeoning his wife with a stone, shattering her leg with a log — then burying her like an animal in a shallow maize field grave!

Fedwell Moyo (45) from Enyandeni Village, Gwanda, stood shamelessly before Bulawayo High Court
Judge Naison Chivayo this week, denying murder —claiming his 27-year-old wife, Nomathemba Msipa, was the violent one.

Moyo’s chilling defence was: “She hit me with an axe — my ear still leaks pus!”

“She came at me again — I had NO CHOICE but to KILL her!”

“I didn’t mean to. . . I tried taking her to hospital!”

Justice Chivayo decided his defence did not hold water and locked him away for 20 years.

He heard how Nomathemba’s last hours unfolded in blood-soaked terror.

The couple had sold maize that very morning and squabbled over how to use the cash.

A fight erupted as Moyo wanted the cash for school fees while his wife wanted it for business.

He exploded in anger and hurled a stone at her head, flooring her instantly.

Moyo’s rage knew no bounds as he bashed her with a log, shattering her leg.

When he realised that he had beaten her to death, he loaded her body onto a scotchcart and tricked his daughter — who was unaware of the grisly cargo — into holding a lamp to light up the way.

When they reached a maize field he told the girl they had to return home, leaving the scotch cart. Later, leaving his daughter asleep, Moyo doubled back to the maize field and buried his wife in a shallow grave.

Moyo thought he’d gotten away with MURDER — until he foolishly confessed to his neighbour, Levious Tshaka.

“I buried her . . .” he allegedly whispered — before another villager alerted cops, sealing his fate.
