Buffalo Souljah or King Buffalo as he likes to be called these days, is a man on a mission.
While he is still the most recognisable Zimbabwean dancehall star on the continent, he is now eager to see his brand grow even more on the continent and beyond.
And what is his plan for achieving this? The chanter is looking to get his latest single, My Lady, playlisted in all 54 countries in Africa and countless others around the world, as he tries to put together a release plan to rival some of the worlda��s most established artistes.
So far, the single has already been released to 25 radio stations in Africa, Europe and the United States.
a�?The plan is to create one amalgamated release in Africa then the rest of the world. We want to do it just like they do in the western world of music where you see Beyonce, for example, releasing a song today and the whole world getting to hear it,a�? he said.
Considering that Beyonce has a fan base few artistes around the globe have and a marketing budget few pockets can match, Buffs strategy seems lofty. However, he believes what he cana��t offer in terms of money he can make up for through connections. In this regard, he believes that his recent reunion with DJ Waxxy will help in achieving this.
a�?By using our connections around Africa I think we can pull it off. Since my reunion with Waxxy we have managed to put together our contacts and hence managed to come up with this expansive move.
a�?As things stand, we have contacts in almost each African country, Europe and the US,a�? he said.
The single has so far been released in the Congo, Cameron, Gabon, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Nigeria, Swaziland, Malawi, Zambia, Mozambique, Angola, Botswana, England, Ireland, Belize and the USA among other countries.
Buffs however, said that language differences had made some countries harder to penetrate than others.
a�?Some dona��t speak English like for example the Francophone nations and the Portuguese speaking countries and so I have been using some of my Diaspora friends here to translate but we have been getting through to them when all is said and done,a�? he said. .
