A 55-year old Buhera con artist has appeared in court facing six counts of fraud involving over US$6000.

Harare Magistrate Dennis Mangosi remanded Zvirevo Ngundu in custody to October 10 pending finalisation of investigations.

The court heard that between July and August this year, Ngundu would misrepresent facts to victims on a WhatsApp group  through an advert.

He would convince them that he was in a position to assist those who were seeking nurse training in Government hospitals.

It is alleged Ngundu would ask the victims to deposit cash into a Mukuru account.

It is alleged Ngundu then instructed the victims to send confirmation of depositing the money.

Acting on the misrepresentation, the complainants would make payments for the nurse training.

The offences came to light after complainants tried to contact Ngundu to give them the offer letters.

Efforts to get refunds failed, as he became evasive, leading to reports being made at several police stations.

Ngundu was arrested on September 24.
