Chingoma appeals for space for his helicopter

SELF-TAUGHT engineer Daniel Chingoma is appealing for an alternative place to put his helicopter.

Chingoma yesterday pleaded with the Harare City Council to consider his historical invention as they pave way for the road, and construction of a flyover, at Mbudzi Roundabout.

“I cannot stop national development but my appeal is for an alternative place for myself and my helicopter,” said Chingoma.

“The City of Harare has seen my inventions and was aware of the expansion of roads but never gave me an alternative place.

“I am not going to remove the helicopter or go anywhere.

“This helicopter shows my expertise and Zimbabweans can and will learn more from it.

“May the relevant authorities consider this invention,” he said.

Chingoma invented his helicopter, which has never flown, in 2003 to 2009.

The helicopter was made from scrap metal and a Lexus V8 engine with mirrors from a Bakkie truck and a tobacco thermometer in the cockpit.

Government is constructing a flyover at Mbudzi Roundabout and expanding Simon Mazorodze Road in its drive for improved infrastructure.
