Building waste used to build roads

landmark agreement.
Western Australians are the nation’s worst recyclers, diverting just 28,2 per cent of its rubbish from landfill, compared to South Australia, which recycles 66,3 per cent and Victoria and New South Wales which salvage more than 40 percent, according to Australian Bureau of Statistics data.

Environment Minister Bill Marmion said construction and demolition (C&D) waste makes up 50 percent of all rubbish dumped in WA landfills.
Under a new agreement between Main Roads WA and the Waste Authority some C&D materials, such as concrete, will be recycled and used in civil works by the state government.
“The significance of this achievement cannot be understated as it creates a market for more than one million tonnes of recycled C&D waste,” Mr Marmion said. – PerthNow.
