THE Zifa Southern Region Division One race is boiling over. Table-topping Hwange face a potential banana skin this Friday when they welcome Bulawayo Warriors to Chakona Stadium in what promises to be a tense affair.

Chipangano sit pretty with 20 points from nine matches, having only lost once this season. But last weekend’s 1–1 stumble against Eagle Life FC showed they are not invincible. The pressure is on to deliver in front of a roaring home crowd hungry for a Premier League return.

Breathing down their necks are Bulawayo Chiefs, just a point behind and fired up for redemption after a shock 2–1 defeat to Nkayi United. Chiefs hit the road to face City Herentals at Chinotimba Stadium in Victoria Falls on Saturday. It’s do or die.

With Kelvin Madzongwe, freshly crowned May Player of the Month, leading the midfield, Chiefs have added firepower on the touchline. In a bold move, they’ve appointed John Nyikadzino as head coach after parting ways with Takaendesa Jongwe. Nyikadzino knows how to win promotions and brings serious intent to the Chiefs’ campaign.

Nkayi United, now third on the log with 16 points, clash with Talen Vision at White City Stadium. It’s a tight pack below the top two, with Casymn and Blackrock also sitting on 16 points and eyeing upsets against Ajax Hotspurs Movers and Bosso90, respectively.

Bosso90 and Bulawayo City are in the chase too and need nothing less than maximum points to stay in the mix. City battle Imbizo, while Bosso90 head to Cinderella Stadium.

In the lower trenches, Megawatt FC host Zebra Revolution, coached by former national striker Mkhokheli Dube, while Jordan Sinnot lock horns with Nust FC in a basement battle at Filabusi’s Mthwakazi ground.
