Southern Region Division One football action explodes into Round 11 this weekend, with title chasers Bulawayo Chiefs ready to flex their muscles against army outfit Imbizo, at Chiefs Village.
The Ninjas, who recently bounced back to the summit after a goalless away draw with Victoria Falls City Herentals, are locked on 20 points with Hwange, but enjoy pole position, thanks to a superior +15 goal difference. Now under seasoned coach John Nyikadzino, Bulawayo Chiefs are gunning for a quick return to Premier League football and their clash against Imbizo could solidify their title ambitions.
Hwange, hot on their heels in second place with a +11 goal difference, head to White City Stadium where they’ll square off against Bosso90. Chipangano were frustrated by a 1-1 draw against Bulawayo Warriors in their last outing.
Third-placed Nkayi United, riding high after edging Talen Vision 1-0, travel to face Nust at Nust Stadium. Nkayi are tied on 19 points with Casmyn and BlackRock, making it a tight race in the top four.
Casmyn, fresh off a 2-0 win over Ajax Hotspurs Movers, will be hoping to keep their momentum. Meanwhile, Hwange-based BlackRock, coached by former Warriors and Bosso midfielder Mthulisi Maphosa, have shocked many by climbing into joint third with a young and fearless squad.
