NKULUMO “Nkust” Dube of the Flying Eagles Cycling Club came second behind Bright Chipongo in the National Classic series in Harare at the weekend. Bright Chipongo won the elite men’s 150km race on four hours four minutes eight seconds while Dube clocked 4 hours four minutes 46 seconds in Shamva road.
The top three athletes were separated by seconds in their finish in the elite’s race which was over 150km. Flying Eagles’ Busani Moyo and Mpumelelo Dube came sixth and seventh respectively in a time of 5 hours 19 minutes 40 seconds and five hours 29 minutes 40 seconds.

Chrispen Kazingizi, chairman of Flying Eagles Cycling Club said the trio had a good race considering that Dube lost by a few seconds while Moyo and Mpumelelo were first timers at the nationals.

“They rode well because the guy who came first beat “Nkust” by seconds and the other guys, it was their first time, so it was a learning curve for them,” said Kazingizi.
