MDC formations fail to field candidates for elections

MDC formations have failed to attract candidates for council elections in the forthcoming harmonised elections in some wards in Bulilima and Mangwe districts as well as Plumtree Town areas, resulting in Zanu-PF sailing unopposed in one of the wards. According to results released by the Nomination Courts, only Zanu-PF fielded candidates in all the 45 wards in the three local authorities while MDC-T failed to register candidates in five wards and MDC in seven wards. Zapu was only able to field candidates in five wards with one candidate representing the party in Plumtree Town and four in Mangwe.

Zanu-PF candidate, Cde Vusumuzi Moyo was nominated unopposed in Ward 17, Bulilima area.
In Ward 11’s area in Mangwe, Zanu-PF candidate Cde Ngonidzashe Chemhuru is expected to battle it out with Zapu candidate, Ms Nomathemba Moyo.

Two MDC-T candidates filed their papers as independent candidates in Plumtree Town after they lost in the party’s primary elections which had to be postponed due to party in-fights while four candidates filed as independents in Bulilima district.

Mr Richard Khumalo filed as an independent candidate to contest in Ward 3, where he will battle it out with Cde Nothando Msimanga of Zanu-PF, Mr Similo Ndlovu of MDC-T and Mr Thabani Siziba from MDC.

Mr Trymore Mpofu who is contesting in Ward 6 will battle it out with Cde Paulos Vini Hobana of Zanu-PF, Ms Amanda Mpofu of MDC-T, Ms Violet Tapela of MDC and Mr Richard Ndlovu from Zapu.

In Ward 1, Plumtree Town, Zanu-PF will be represented by Cde Bigboy Magalani, who will contest with Mr Connelias Nyathi of MDC-T and Mr Diliza Mangoye of MDC.

Cde Chinamora Nleya will represent Zanu-PF in Ward 2, where he will be battling it out with Mr Jabulani Tshuma of MDC-T and Ms Thokozile Moyo from MDC.

Ward 4 will see Cde Bakani Tshuma of Zanu-PF battling it out with Mr Ezerial Silongwe from MDC-T and Ms Oppah Artsel Ngwenya from MDC, while in Ward 5 Cde Max Washaya of Zanu-PF will be competing for the seat with Mr Nkosilathi Ncube of MDC.

In Ward 1, Mangwe district veteran politician Cde Mafesi Ncube will be representing Zanu-PF as he battles it out with Mr Alphonse Mvundla of MDC-T and Mr Luca Sibanda from MDC while in Ward 2 Cde Sakhile Ndebele of Zanu-PF will be competing with Mr Peter Ncube of MDC-T and Mr Konzolata Maninji Mpofu from MDC. Cde Joseph Nleya will represent Zanu-PF in Ward 3 where Mr Kahlu Nkosilathi of MDC-T and Mr Oscar Maphosa of MDC will also be vying for the same seat. Voters in Ward four will be choosing their councillor from Cde Sindisiwe Sibanda of Zanu-PF, Mr Thanks Tshuma of MDC-T and Mr William Mafu of MDC, while in Ward 5 Cde Norman Tshuma of Zanu-PF, Mr Meliwe Phuthi of MDC-T, Ms Theodorah Mvundla of MDC and Mr Richard Tshuma from Zapu will battle it out for the seat.

Ward 6 will see Cde Francis Sibanda of Zanu-PF battling it out with Mr Cliffa Dube of MDC-T, Ms Thoko Ncube of MDC and Ms Agnes from Zapu while in Ward 7 Cde Pimbi Alfred Ncube of Zanu-PF will be contesting with Mr Tapelo Ngwenya of MDC-T and Rolland Kaifa Dube of MDC.
In Ward 8, Cde Kuka Ncube of Zanu-PF will lock horns with Mr Edward Ngwenya while in Ward 9, Cde Stephen Nyathi of Zanu-PF and Mr Walter Mpofu of MDC-T will battle it out for the seat.

In Ward 10 voters will be choosing their councillor from Cde Jabulani Dube of Zanu-PF, Mr Obie Moyo of MDC-T and Mr Sambulo Dube of MDC.
Cde Nkosana Nkomo will be representing Zanu-PF in Ward 12 where he will be battling it out with, Mr Peter Ndlovu of MDC-T and Mr Max Ndlovu from MDC.

In Ward 13 Cde Michael Ndlovu of Zanu-PF, Mr Lastboy Ndebele of MDC-T, Mr Brighton Ndlovu of MDC and Mr Jamela Mvundla of Zapu will battle it out for the seat.

In Ward 14, Zanu-PF will be represented by Cde Misheck Sibanda, who will be contested by Mr Phakamisa Sibanda from MDC-T, while in Ward 15 Cde Thandiwe Moyo of Zanu-PF will be competing for the seat with Mr Sydney Ngwenya of MDC-T and Mr Simanga Tshuma from MDC.
Voters in Ward 16 will be choosing their councillor from Cde Joyce Dube of Zanu-PF, Ms Prisca Mpofu of MDC-T and Mr Alphonse Ndlovu from MDC.

Cde Clement Majahana of Zanu-PF, Ms Sindisiwe Phuthi of MDC-T and Mr Elliot Ncube of MDC will be battling out for the Ward 17 seat.
In Bulilima district’s Ward 1 area, Mr Pheleza Maseko will contest as an independent candidate while Zanu-PF will be represented by Cde Tonny Mlotshwa, MDC-T by Mr Norman Ncube and MDC by Mr Edward Ndumba.

In Ward 2, Cde Bhekimpilo Vundla of Zanu-PF and Mr Enerst Mdlovu of MDC will battle it out while in Ward 3 voters will choose their councillor from Cde Tapson Hanyane of Zanu-PF, Ms Irene Ncube of MDC-T and Ms Siduduzile Ncube from MDC.

Cde Soneni Ndlovu will represent Zanu-PF in Ward 4 as she battles it out with Mr Emmanuel Moyo of MDC-T and Mr Elias Ndebele of MDC.
In Ward 5, Mr Methuseli Ndlovu will contest as an independent candidate while Zanu-PF will be represented by Mr Mediot Mwale, MDC-T by Mr Boniface Phiri and MDC by Mr Derrick Ndebele.

Voters in Ward 6 will be choosing their councillor from Cde Sifanikiso Ndlovu of Zanu-PF, Mr Collet Ndlovu of MDC-T and Ms Sitholile Sibanda of MDC while in Ward 7 Cde Vincent Dube of Zanu-PF and Mr Albert Moyo of MDC-T will be battling out for the seat.

Ward 8 will see Cde Elias Mpofu of  Zanu-PF battling it out with Ms Nokuthula Tshuma of MDC-T and Ms Maggie Mpofu of MDC while Ward 9 will see Cde Charles Ngulube of Zanu-PF, Mr Nduna Moyo of MDC-T and Mr Christian Dube of MDC battling out.

In Ward 10, Cde Zooklakes Nyathi will represent Zanu-PF while MDC-T will be represented by Mr Mpumelelo Moyo and MDC by Mr Kudzani Moyo.

In Ward 11, Cde Jabet Mlalazi of Zanu-PF, Ms Themba Male of MDC-T and Mr Thamani Ncube will battle it out for the seat, while in Ward 12 Cde Fidzani Ndlovu of Zanu-PF, Mr Ndabezinhle Dube of MDC-T and Ms Scholastica Ndlovu of MDC will compete to be councillors in the ward.

Ms Pretty Ndlovu will contest as an independent candidate in Ward 13 while Zanu-PF will be represented by Cde Vuku Moyo, MDC-T by Mr Ian Matiwaza and MDC by Mr Takeson Mpofu.

Voters in Ward 14 will choose their councillor from Zanu-PF candidate, Cde Godlwayo Ngwenya, MDC-T’S Mr Mtshumayeli Ndlovu and MDC candidate Mr Dubilizwe Dube.

In Ward 15, Zanu-PF representative Mr Fransic Tshuma will be battling out with Mr Mahluli Mpofu of MDC-T and Ms Ntombile Mabuza of MDC while in Ward 16 Cde Morgen Ndebele of Zanu-PF, Mr Dalumizi Masilela of MDC-T and Mr Sihlola Ndlovu of MDC will be battling it out for the seat.
Cde Langa Ndebele will represent Zanu-PF in Ward 18 as he will be contested by Mr Brighten Mpofu of MDC-T and Mr Fios Nkomo of MDC while Cde Simon Sibanda of Zanu-PF and Mr Christopher Moyo of MDC-T will battle it out for the seat in Ward 19.

In Ward 20 voters will choose their councillor from Cde Benjamin Nleya of Zanu-PF, Mr Samson Gonde of MDC-T and Mr Sitjaba Nleya of MDC.
In Ward 21 Mr Mahluli Nyathi will contest as an independent candidate while Zanu-PF will be represented by Cde Sylvester Nkomo, MDC-T by Mr Burden Masokana and MDC by Ms Siphelile Ncube.

Cde Thompson Tsambani of Zanu-PF and Mr Tamilika Ndlovu of MDC-T will battle it out for the seat in Ward 22.
Both MDC and MDC-T have been rocked by a revolt of members over imposition of candidates in the primary elections.

MDC-T was torn apart by its leaders’ insistence to field Mr Norman Mpofu, Ms Nomalanga Khumalo and Ms Zinti Mnkandla, who defected from the MDC, ahead of members who had been in the party for years.

Turbulence hit the MDC when the leadership imposed the party secretary general Mrs Priscilla Misihairambwi-Mushonga in Mzingwane, also ignoring party members who had been with the party since its inception, in the area.
