In a first for the city, Bulawayo made a remarkable impression at the Ultimate Battle RivalSkool Africa auditions held over the weekend at Alliance Française Bulawayo Zimbabwe. Out of the 26 contestants, seven hailed from Gweru, while the remaining participants showcased their talent from Bulawayo.

Previously hosted in Harare, organisers recognised the abundant talent in Bulawayo and its surrounding areas, prompting them to bring the competition to the City of Kings and Queens. Remarkably, both dancers selected from the 26 contestants hailed from Bulawayo.

The dance-off finals for the international breakdance and freestyle dance competition will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa. Zimbabwe will be represented by 26-year-old Prince Chibansha known as Unofficial Prince and 23-year-old Manubukhosi Prince Masinge, stage name Uncle Stunner.

Their tour expenses will be fully sponsored by the organisers, Alliance Française.

Unofficial Prince, a graduate in Fiscal Studies from the National University of Science and Technology, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to represent Bulawayo’s vibrant dance and arts scene on an international platform.

“Being an artist comes with various challenges, especially when you lack support from your family. This competition will bring awareness to my family as I represent my city and country,” said Unofficial Prince.

Uncle Stunner echoed his excitement, emphasising the significant opportunities the competition presents for artists.

“This is a massive competition that will open doors for us as artists, and I’m honoured to be part of such a phenomenal experience,” said Uncle Stunner.

These talented dancers have had the privilege of performing alongside prominent Zimbabwean celebrities in their careers, featuring in music videos for artistes such as Jah Prayzah, Sandra Ndebele, Mzoe7, Enzo Ishall, Ma9, Holy Ten, and Winky D, among others.
