GOVERNMENT has called on development partners and education stakeholders to develop a results-driven national early learning blueprint that is evidence-based and child-focused.
The call was made at a validation workshop held in Harare yesterday to review the School Readiness Initiative in Zimbabwe Strategy for 2026–2030.
The strategy is being spearheaded by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (MoPSE), in collaboration with the Federer Foundation and a consortium of partners, and seeks to give children a strong foundation for education and lifelong learning by ensuring they are adequately prepared for Grade One.
MoPSE Permanent Secretary Mr Moses Mhike, in a speech read on his behalf by Acting Director Mr Cypren Masocha, said the 2026–2030 strategic period presented a critical opportunity to broaden the programme’s target coverage to children aged three to eight.
The shift is in line with Government’s integrated policy framework, which recognises that early childhood development (ECD) requires cross-sectoral collaboration involving education, healthcare, child protection and nutrition services.
