A BULAWAYO family is appealing to members of the public for assistance in locating a missing 78-year-old man who disappeared from his home in Old Magwegwe on Tuesday evening.
Mr Peteon Chikutuva, who suffers from dementia, was last seen leaving his residence after indicating that he wanted to check on his maize field.
According to his son, Mr Junior Peteon Chikutuva, the elderly man left home despite efforts by relatives to stop him from going out as darkness approached.

“My father was last seen on Tuesday evening when he told a relative that he wanted to go and check on his maize field. His 20-year-old nephew advised him not to leave the yard because it was getting dark, but somehow he managed to sneak out of the house,” said Mr Chikutuva.
“He suffers from dementia, although he is physically fit and well-groomed, making it difficult for people who meet him to immediately realise that he has the condition.”
The family has since reported the matter to Magwegwe Police Station and is appealing to anyone who may have seen Mr Chikutuva or knows of his whereabouts to come forward with information.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the family on 0777 789 296 or 0782 155 942, or report to the nearest police station.
