A DEVASTATING fire from a gas explosion has today around 9AM engulfed a seven-roomed house at 7 Huddon Avenue, Khumalo Bulawayo, leaving the structure in ruins and nearly everything inside destroyed.

The Chronicle team visited the scene and saw the destruction caused by the inferno.

The aftermath is heart-wrenching, with the once vibrant home reduced to charred remains.

Mr Thabo Shown Mpala, the eldest son of the family, recounted the horrifying moment to Chronicle team saying a gas explosion occurred while their maid was cooking, resulting in her suffering severe burns.

He said the maid has been admitted to United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) for urgent medical care.

The fire brigade arrived after the major destruction had already occurred by the time they attempted to extinguish the flames.
