BULAWAYO is gearing up for another vibrant morning of running, fitness and community spirit as the Cimas iGo Half Marathon returns to Busters Sports Club on Sunday. The event has become a staple on the city’s athletics calendar, attracting seasoned runners, casual joggers and families eager to be part of something meaningful.
The Bulawayo Athletics Board (BAB) says preparations are complete. Chairperson Watson Madanyika confirmed the board is ready to deliver another successful edition.
“We are fully prepared for this year’s race. The Cimas iGo Half Marathon has become an important event for us, not only competitively but also socially, because it brings the community together for a meaningful cause.
“The focus on men’s health awareness is extremely important. Many men delay health checks, and events like this encourage them to take wellness seriously.”

The marathon offers 21km, 10km and 5km races, all pegged at a US$20 registration fee. Proceeds will once again go to the Cancer Association of Zimbabwe.
The wider Cimas iGo wellness programme continues to champion public health education through screenings, fitness events and lifestyle improvement activities, making its partnership with the marathon a natural fit.
Prostate cancer remains the second most common cancer affecting men worldwide, with about 1,3 million new cases recorded annually — a sobering statistic that gives this year’s theme added significance.
Last year’s event produced thrilling contests. Brian Nathaniel Mpofu claimed the men’s 21,1km race in 1 hour 29 minutes 09 seconds, edging out Munashe Murawa who finished in 1 hour 31 minutes 19 seconds. In the women’s category, Coriena Hersman crossed the line in 2 hours 2 minutes 19 seconds, with Erin Moore close behind at 2 hours 4 minutes 43 seconds.
The 10km races were equally competitive. Washington Chaminuka led the men’s pack in 37 minutes 49 seconds, followed by Alan Zinhungo in 41 minutes 27 seconds. Rejoice Zulu won the women’s category in 1 hour 3 minutes 20 seconds, ahead of Clementina Ali’s 1 hour 5 minutes 11 seconds.
Delta Chikombe dominated the men’s 5km in 25 minutes 44 seconds, while Leroy Muvango followed in 29 minutes 17 seconds. Learnmore Muvango clinched the women’s title with a 35 minutes 08 seconds run.
The race remains open to all, and online registration is available via
platforms as the city counts down to another energetic, health-driven Sunday.
