Bulawayo junior councillors inducted

THE Bulawayo City Council yesterday held an induction ceremony for the newly elected junior councillors. The ceremony held at the Large City Hall was attended by Bulawayo mayor, Councillor Martin Moyo, council officials, school heads, teachers and pupils from the city’s high schools.

Mbonisi Ngubeni from Mzilikazi High School was elected junior mayor and will be deputised by Bhekisipho Bhebhe from Hamilton High School.

Kudzai Taranyika from Townsend High School was elected mayoress and will be deputised by Aremokeng Swane from Sizane High School while Tanaka Chitongo from Gifford High School came in as the town clerk.

In his address, Mbonisi said he would work hard in addressing the needs of children.
“I am for the community and I am going to work hard to make sure that children are fully represented in council.

“As newly elected council members, we are going to give back to our community by addressing the needs of the orphans and under-privileged children,” he said.

Clr Moyo wished the newly elected council a fruitful term and encouraged the junior councillors to seek advice from their predecessors.
