HIGHLANDERS Football Legends secretary-general Itai Masawi, says they will reach out to more groups of former players.
He said this at the end of a match played at Crescent Sports Club at the weekend where they clashed with Zvishavane Legends.
Masawi said it felt good to play against guys that they had last met over 20 years ago.
“It was good meeting players that we had not met in ages. We got to catch up and it was nice. We will reach out to more such groups, it helps us network and also stay fit which is healthy for our bodies,” said
Masawi who played for Highlanders, Shushine Wolves and Black Rhinos.
The most recognizable of the Zvishavane Legends was Stephen Mbewe who plated leftback for a
Shabanie Mine team that had Francis Chandida, Thomas Makwasha, Asani Juma, Andrew Chisunga,
Phillip Sithole, James Kaunda. John Banda, Misheck Banda and diminutive Max Ruza.
“We lost but it was a good game, would like to thank Highlanders for the good reception. We have Chris
Moyo former Shabanie Mine, Watson Chiwaya FC Platinum player, Gerald Phiri who has an academy,
Brighton Pamhirwa has an academy, Misheck Banda is coaching Renco Mine and Phillip Sithole is the Golden Eagles juniors assistant coach,” said Mbewe.
Graham Ncube speaking for Highlanders Legends said it was good catching up with former opponents.
