Bulawayo man (20) rapes 12-year-old niece

A 20-YEAR-OLD Bulawayo man has appeared in court for allegedly raping his 12-year-old niece.
The man from Njube suburb, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the minor, appeared before Western Commonage regional magistrate Mr Pasipanodya Maturure facing a rape charge.
He was remanded in custody to July 13 pending trial.
Prosecuting, Ms Christina Manyika told the court that the alleged offence occurred last year when the complainant was sleeping inside his grandfather’s bedroom.

“The accused person then forcibly removed the complainant’s clothes and raped her after which he threatened her with unspecified consequences if she reported the matter to anyone,” she said.
The matter came to light when the complainant told her teacher that her stomach was painful. She also revealed that she had been raped by her uncle.
The teacher then reported the matter to police, leading to the accused person’s arrest. The complainant was taken to hospital for medical examination
