THE Bulawayo Models Association has resurfaced after a two-year revival process, ushering in a new executive leadership team alongside plans for an awards ceremony set to celebrate excellence in the modelling industry.
The newly appointed executive comprises Joanne Peters (Advisor), Khaya Pardon (President), Calvin Madula (Vice President), Abdul Preacher Monjesa (Secretary General), Mzolisi Zibusiso Mtshayisa (Vice Secretary General) and Leslie Masuku (Treasurer General).
Speaking on the revival, Secretary General Monjesa said the association has spent the past two years working behind the scenes to rebuild its structure, strengthen its brand and align with credible industry stakeholders.
“We’re now back to serve the industry bigger, better and stronger. After careful selection by founding members Miss Joanne Peters and Khaya Pardon, the association is proud to announce its Board of Directors,” he said.
“This Executive Board will steer the affairs of the Bulawayo Models Association for 2026. We also appeal to members of the public interested in contributing to this project to come on board.”
Monjesa said nominations for the upcoming awards will open on 1 July 2026 through an online link to be shared, with a wide range of categories recognising talent across the modelling and fashion industries.
Categories include Model of the Year, Most Photogenic, Outstanding Male Model, Outstanding Female Model, Best Fashion Model, Best Pageant Model, Best Newcomer, Outstanding Runway Model and Outstanding Fitness Model.
Industry categories will recognise Outstanding Models Agency, Best Model Photographer, Outstanding Fashion Designer, Best MC, Best Pageant Director, Outstanding Pageant Choreographer, Outstanding Model Groomer and Outstanding Brand Ambassador.
Additional categories include Outstanding Varsity/College/University Pageant, Outstanding Varsity King & Queen, Pageant of the Year, Most Travelled Model, Outstanding Model Project, Legendary Lifetime Awards, Most Supportive Company, Best Influencer, Outstanding Video and Outstanding Performing Artist (Pageant/Fashion Show).
Monjesa said the awards programme will run from August to November 2026, with key events lined up across the season.
“The key function dates are 29 August 2026, when we will host an official cocktail launch and nominees reveal. On 31 October 2026, we will host the Bulawayo Models Awards, and on 21 November 2026 we will host the official Mr & Miss Bulawayo pageant, with venues to be announced,” he said.
