BULAWAYO police are seeking assistance from the public to help identify the body of a man who was fatally struck by a speeding commuter omnibus on Wednesday evening.

According to Bulawayo Provincial deputy police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu, the accident happened around 7.30PM along Luveve Road near Entumbane Complex.

The police spokesperson revealed that the driver of the commuter omnibus, Ntandolwenkosi Ncube (29) of Cowdray Park, who was driving a Toyota Hiace was allegedly speeding when the accident occurred.
“He hit an unknown male adult of approximately 38-years of age who was intending to cross due north,” she said.

Assistant Inspector Ndlovu said the now deceased person sustained multiple fractures, severe head injuries and died on the spot. He was taken to United Bulawayo Hospitals’ mortuary.
“The causes of the accident was due to speeding and failure to keep a proper lookout when driving,” Inspector Ndlovu said.

Ncube is now facing charges of culpable homicide. Inspector Ndlovu urged drivers to keep a proper lookout when driving and avoid speeding.
“Members of the public who might have a missing relative are advised to visit the nearest police station or UBH mortuary for body identification,” she said.
