THE Deputy Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development, Simelisizwe Sibanda, has commissioned four vehicles for Bulawayo Polytechnic College as part of Government’s efforts to capacitate institutions with resources for effective teaching, learning and service delivery.
The vehicles comprise two operational vehicles and two vehicles for the college’s driving school.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony yesterday, Deputy Minister Sibanda said the provision of the vehicles was in line with Government’s commitment to achieving Vision 2030 and advancing the Heritage-Based Education 5.0 model.
“Government, through the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development, remains committed to Vision 2030 and Heritage-Based Education 5.0, including capacitating institutions with the resources required for effective teaching, learning, innovation and service delivery,” he said.
“Today, we are commissioning two vehicles for operational use and two for the Bulawayo Polytechnic College driving school.”
Deputy Minister Sibanda said the two operational vehicles would support the college’s day-to-day activities, including official duties, assessment of students on industrial attachment and community outreach programmes.
He said the two driving school vehicles would enhance practical training for students pursuing driver training courses.
“The driving school vehicles will strengthen the college’s practicals in driver training and contribute to producing competent, responsible and safety-conscious drivers,” said Deputy Minister
Sibanda.
He said the commissioning of the vehicles demonstrated Government’s continued commitment to ensuring that institutions of higher and tertiary education were adequately equipped to fulfil their mandates.
The vehicles are expected to improve mobility at the institution while also enhancing the delivery of practical training to students.
