BULAWAYO Pool Association (BPA) league champions Kings are targeting a fourth straight title as the 2014 season starts tomorrow. Kings start their title defence with an encounter against police outfit Drill Hall. Kings will be a real threat as they have recruited new players such as Hilary Makamuri from Kadoma while their top player Paul Mutuzwa won the pre-season singles tournament at Raylton Sports Club last weekend.
BPA publicity secretary Donald Wadawu confirmed that the 2014 season cues off this weekend.
“Everything is in place. We will have our first round games this weekend, we are happy to start the season on a high note after a very successful pre-season singles tournament held at Raylton Sports Club last weekend,” he said.
“We will be having 14 frames this season, compared to last year when we had 13, so now we can have draws not a situation where there must be always a winner,” said Wadawu.
He said Division One clubs would have two pools as they have registered 32 clubs this season.
“We have more clubs in Division One so we will be having two groups. I’m happy because it will increase the level of competition in the lower division,” he said.
Munyoro Community Pool Club, Tshabalala Community Pool Club, Khami Prison, Double Punch, Shumba Ladies, Woza Emakhandeni, Southwold ZPC and Miriam’s are among the new clubs to join BPA.
