BULAWAYO Metropolitan Province has selected athletes for the forthcoming Zimbabwe National Youth Games set for the city next month.
All Bulawayo teams are drawn in Pool A as the host city after a draw conducted early this week. Tennis, volleyball, handball, girls’ soccer and basketball have all selected preliminary squads for the Games. Boys’ soccer, boxing and athletics are the only disciplines yet confirm their teams.
Technical manager for the Bulawayo team Adam Joelson said yesterday that preparations were progressing well while Bulawayo netball coach Freeman Tanyanyiwa is convinced they are on the right track.
Bulawayo netball is in the same pool with Manicaland, Midlands, Mashonaland Central and Matabeleland North.
The netball team retained eight players who were part of the bronze winning team last year in Bindura and these include Felistus Kangwa, Sithokozile Moyo and Mercy M’tizwa.
Volleyball boys’ coach Qinisa Fuyana is pinning his hopes on Zimbabwe national team starlet Murphrey Chindumbo who is in Malawi with national team for Zone 6 World Cup qualifiers.
