Bulawayo Senator Chitsa to be buried today

Senator Chitsa who has been suffering from hypertension and diabetes, died at her home in Luveve 4.
She was 66.
Her younger sister Ms Milca Chitsa said burial arrangements have been made for the former trade unionist’s burial.
“She will be laid to rest at Lady Stanley Cemetery tomorrow (today) at 12pm.
“She was born on 14 April 1946 in Bulawayo and did her primary education at Mtshede Primary School in Njube before proceeding for her secondary education in Mutare,” said Ms               Chitsa.
MDC-T Bulawayo provincial spokesperson Mr Mandlenkosi Sibanda said Senator Chitsa had not been feeling well for some time.
“She has not been feeling well for some time as she was suffering from hypertension and diabetes.
Her death is a great loss to the party. She was deputy national chairperson in the women’s assembly and a senator.
“We have lost a gallant fighter for people’s rights especially women. Chitsa was a trade unionist and a member of the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Union (ZCTU),” said Mr Sibanda.
MDC-T deputy provincial chairperson for Bulawayo Ms Dorcas Sibanda said her party                would no longer be the same without Senator Chitsa.
“Her death is a great loss to our party. She was one of  the elders and a think tank on many             issues. Senator Chitsa was a kind and loving woman.
She was an intelligent leader and a founder member of the party. Her death has robbed the women’s assembly where she fought for women’s welfare. She will be buried tomorrow (today) and we expect the national party leadership to attend her burial,” said Ms Sibanda, who is the House of Assembly Member for Bulawayo Central.
Senator Chitsa is survived by two daughters and a son.
Mourners are gathered at her home, number 3161 in Luveve 4 in Bulawayo.
