Police probe Minister’s crash

One person died while seven others were injured when their vehicles collided in Concession on Thursday morning.
The accident occurred along Mazowe-Centenary Road at around 10am involving Cde Chindori-Chininga’s Benz and a Nissan pick up truck.
Cde Chininga who was alone, was driving towards Guruve while the truck which was headed for Harare carried eight passengers.
National Traffic police spokesperson Inspector Tigere Chigome yesterday said, “We are still trying to ascertain the cause of the accident.”
He however, dismissed reports that there was a commuter omnibus when the accident occurred.
“The pick up driver did not try to overtake any commuter omnibus. The details we have so far indicate that it was a head-on collision,” he said.
The other six people injured in the accident were taken to Concession Hospital while Cde Chininga was rushed to West End Hospital in Harare. — HB.
