THE City of Bulawayo is showcasing the iconic Chronicle Building at the ongoing Sanganai/Hlanganani/Dzimbahwe World Tourism Expo, spotlighting the city’s rich architectural and historical heritage.
Situated at Corner 9th Avenue and George Silundika Street, the Zimpapers Building is among several landmark structures being exhibited by the city, as part of efforts to promote Bulawayo as a heritage and cultural tourism destination.
The Chronicle Building, which houses the country’s leading daily newspaper, The Chronicle, is one of Bulawayo’s distinguished landmarks and forms part of the city’s distinctive architectural landscape.
The Zimpapers Bulawayo branch also houses the Sunday News, B-Metro and Umthunywa publications.
The exhibition seeks to demonstrate how Bulawayo’s built heritage can be leveraged to attract tourists while preserving the city’s history for future generations.
The city’s Economic Development Officer ‑ Marketing and Investment Promotions, Mr Bukhosi Dumoluhle Mpofu, told Zimpapers here that the display was also aimed at exposing visitors, tourism operators and investors to Bulawayo’s diverse heritage assets.
The initiative comes as Zimbabwe increasingly promotes heritage and cultural tourism as key drivers of local economic development and investment.
