BULAWAYO-BASED Continental Social Soccer Club has pooled resources to donate towards flood victims in Binga District.

The club handed over the donations which comprised clothes and shoes to Skyz Metro FM on behalf of the flood victims on Monday.

A total of 181 homes were affected by flash floods of which 37 were completely destroyed, leaving affected families homeless.

Gondo Gondo, organising secretary for Continental Social Soccer Club said: “As a club, we saw it fit to donate to our relatives that were affected by the floods in Binga.

“We have managed to gather up clothes and shoes to the victims and we hope they will go a long way,” said Gondo.

One of the club members, Steven Chitofu said the donations were a starting point and that they would keep on trying to raise resources towards the Binga victims.

Last week, Zimbabwe’s second largest mobile network operator, NetOne, also donated a consignment of goodies worth thousands of dollars to flood victims in Binga district.

Matabeleland North Provincial Affairs Minister Richard Moyo also distributed bags of grain and food hampers to the families that were affected by flash floods.

Continental club was formed in 2015 with the aim of socialising through sports. The club also engages in a clean-up campaign where they sweep around the corners of the CBD in every first Sunday of the month.
