The family of a 28-year-old woman from Gokwe who is assumed to have been grisly murdered by her husband accusing her of infidelity is demanding 40 head of cattle from the man’s family before burying their daughter.

Rosemary Goto was allegedly murdered by her husband of five years Thabani Ncube after the two had a misunderstanding over infidelity allegations.

The Goto family was, however, paid 10 head of cattle by the Ncube family and they promised to deliver the remaining beasts after the burial of their daughter.

Chief Mkoka, under whose jurisdiction the area falls, confirmed the incident to B-Metro.

“There was an incident that happened a week ago in Ndandulo Village where a woman was killed and it is suspected that she was killed by her husband whose whereabouts up to now are not known,” said Chief Mkoka.

He added that the Goto family had refused to bury the deceased saying they would only do so when their in-laws paid the 40 cattle.

“The bereaved family is refusing to bury their daughter and they are demanding 40 beasts from their in-laws. They are even threatening to dump the body at Ncube’s homestead if they do not honour their demands.

“I sent village heads to mediate on the matter but no luck up to now as the Gotos are adamant on their demands. For now, the Ncube family has parted with 10 cows and are still to pay the remaining 30. We will keep trying to persuade the bereaved family to bury their daughter and continue the talks afterwards,” he said.
