Bulawayo’s amazing talents take to stage

FORGET about America Got Talent for a day, Bulawayo’s Most Amazing Talents Show is the show not to miss !
The search for Bulawayo’s talent will see 53 unheralded artistes take to the stage in an audition aptly dubbed, Bulawayo’s Most Amazing Talents Show to be held at Bulawayo Theatre tomorrow.
The audition held annually is often characterised by laughter, joy and tears as the judges’ decision is final with some contestants bowing out of the race, while others progress to the next round.

A total of 12 acts will progress to the finals of the show to be held during the Intwasa Festival KoBulawayo next month.
Raisedon Baya, director of the festival, said the youths had responded positively to the show.

“The overwhelming response from the city’s young and aspiring artistes is testimony to a desire by the youths to be discovered and taken to another level.

“The response also testifies to the popularity of the talent show,” said Baya.
Bulawayo Got Talent has produced the likes of one of the fastest growing best gospel outfits Family Voices, dance groups Xplosion and Break Equation who have grown to perform at bigger stages around the country.

Baya said competition was likely to be stiff in the music and dance genre as it had most applicants.
“The registered acts are mainly in the categories of music and dance and a few entries came from young poets”.

Bulawayo’s Most Amazing Talents Show aims at identifying and promoting creative talent from Bulawayo youths in the genres of music, dance, comedy and poetry.

The talent show was first won by gospel group Family Voices in 2011 and last year’s edition was won by dance sensation Xplosion.
The two winners have performed at Intwasa and went on to perform at other big occasions after being exposed at the festival.

The Most Amazing Talents Show is an exciting show modelled around other talent search shows such as America’s Got Talent and South Africa Got Talent.

The show will kick off at 1pm tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Intwasa Short plays project continues on Sunday at Amakhosi with four plays expected to premiere on the day.
Among them is Café directed by Desire Moyo, The Preposition by Nkosi Mlibazi and The Tourist directed by Mhondiwa Mhepo.

The short plays competition is a build up to the festival, as the organisers seek to encourage audiences to attend theatre projects.
Last weekend two plays, Shoes and Crocodile Flats were selected as the best for the day and will proceed to the next round.
Only four local plays are expected to be part of this year’s theatre programme out of the 12 submitted by artistes.

Baya said they were encouraging theatre lovers to be part of the fun at the weekly shows as the standards of the plays were higher than other plays showcased before on the Plays on Sunday shows.
