BULILIMA legislator Cde Dingumuzi Phuti has reiterated his commitment to driving meaningful and inclusive development across Bulilima District in Matabeleland South Province, saying regular engagement with communities remains key to effective service delivery.

Cde Phuti, who is also a Zanu -PF Central Committee member, has been holding consultative meetings in villages across the constituency as part of efforts to assess development needs, provide feedback on ongoing projects and account to party structures.

Recently, he convened a meeting at Gwambe Village in Ward 2, where several community-driven development initiatives are taking shape.

At the village clinic, the main structure and a staff cottage have been completed following joint efforts by local residents and members of the Bulilima diaspora. The cottage is expected to improve staff retention.

In the same ward, construction of a science laboratory at Gwambe Secondary School is underway and is one of the 46th Independence Day legacy projects, which are being implemented ahead of national celebrations set to be hosted by Matobo District.

Addressing party members and villagers, Cde Phuti said elected leaders have a duty to uplift communities through tangible development projects.

“As leaders, we have an obligation to ensure that development reaches the grassroots and improves the lives of our people,” he said.

“The party is supreme to Government, and it is imperative that as elected officials we give periodic reports to our party structures so that they can track our performance in fulfilling the expectations of the manifesto on which we were elected.”

Cde Phuti said Zanu-PF’s development vision, under the leadership of President Mnangagwa, is being implemented at various levels of governance.

“We will continue to hold meetings across all our party districts to explain how the vision of the First Secretary of the party, President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, is being fulfilled at national, provincial, district, constituency and ward levels,” he said.

Cde Phuti added that Bulilima has established effective communication channels to ensure accountability and co-ordination between leadership structures.

“We also submit written activity reports to the district party office, which are consolidated and forwarded to the province. Zanu-PF is a mass party, and its legacy will be preserved through discipline, transparency and hard work as envisioned by His Excellency,” he said.

Bulilima District, which is largely rural, has in recent years seen increased community participation in development projects, particularly through partnerships involving the Government, local leadership and the diaspora.

The Independence Day legacy projects underway in the area are expected to leave lasting infrastructure that supports education, health and social development beyond the commemorations.
