Bulls, Monoz draw

DEFENDING champions Motor Action missed the opportunity to reclaim the top position on the Castle Lager Premiership table as they settled for a draw in a lukewarm tie at Gwanzura yesterday.
With the log leaders FC Platinum failing to collect maximum points against Masvingo United on Sunday, the Mighty Bulls blew a chance to reclaim the pole position.
Both teams created scoring opportunities but were struggling with their finishing touch.
Motor Action could have took the lead in the 28th minute when Masimba Mambare received a pass from Kudakwashe Musharu, just inside the box, but failed to convert. Four minutes later Monomotapa’s Osborn Mukuradare blew a good chance when he failed to beat Motor Action’s goalkeeper Marlon Jani.
Monomotapa coach Taurai Mangwiro said the departure of some of their key players had affected the team.
“Today we had a very slow start but we came back strongly in the second half, maybe if we had been more precise we could have got one or two goals.
“We have virtually a new team but there is a lot of promise.
“It was always going to be tough rebuilding the team after we suddenly lost some of our key members,” said Mangwiro.
His counterpart Joey Antipas was a disappointed man.
“We got good ball possession and created chances but we failed to utilise them.
“The second half (of theseason) is gonna be really tough,” said Antipas.
