Bumper crowd expected at Midlands star rally

Midlands Bureau Chief
THE Zanu-PF First Secretary and President, Cde Mugabe, will today take his election campaign to Midlands Province where he will address a star rally at Mkoba Open Grounds. Zanu-PF provincial chairman Cde Jason Machaya yesterday said they had prepared well for the event and were expecting a bumper crowd.
He said the venue of the star rally had been moved from the traditional Mkoba Stadium to Mkoba Open Grounds near Budiriro College and Midlands Aids Service Organisation offices.

“We moved to the open space in Mkoba to accommodate more people as we are expecting more than 50 000 people.
“Logistics put in place will accommodate more than 50 000 people.   People will be coming from all corners of the province to express their solidarity as Midlands for Zanu-PF presidential candidate, Cde Mugabe,” said Cde Machaya.

He said party supporters would be given party regalia at the venue of the rally.
Cde Machaya said there would be enough regalia for everyone.

“We have trucks that brought the regalia from Harare. The regalia will be dispatched at the venue. People should come in their numbers. Transport has been arranged and people should be at the usual pick up points in their respective districts,” he said.

“There are 20 buses that have been set aside for Gweru district alone. We don’t have transport challenges at all. The buses will take people to the venue of the star rally and return them to their respective districts after the rally.

“People of Mkoba who are close to the venue should walk,” he said.
