Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE) has launched a comprehensive drone pilot training programme in response to the increasing demand for skilled drone pilots in agriculture, emergency response, infrastructure inspection, and aerial photography.
The university has partnered the Drone Solutions Academy for the course.
BUSE Vice-Chancellor, Professor Eddie Mwenje who was represented by Dr David Makwerere, the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, said the university is proactive in embracing the transformative power of drone technology.
“Our objective is to position ourselves in this era of rapidly advancing drone technology and its growing impact across a wide range of industrial, commercial, and training sectors,” he said.
Drone Solutions Academy’s chief executive officer, Mr Jeremiah Musabayana expressed confidence in the partnership and said the program will set unparalleled standards in the industry.
The university’s Department of Communication Science chairman, Dr Lazarus Dokora said the drone training program will revolutionise drone technology in Zimbabwe, thereby marking a significant leap forward in industry-academia partnerships.
