Busi brings curtain down on Hifa

music and dance at the Coca-Cola Green stage.
Hifa, which is being held under the theme “The Engagement Party”, will see Busi engaging award-winning Mozambican saxophonist and composer, Ivan Mazuze.
The diva is one of the most talented female musicians who have put Zimbabwe on the map through their commitment to music.
She was influenced by African traditional music, which she fuses with contemporary genres like jazz, rock, funk and disco.
Busi, who honed her talent by playing with the now-defunct Ilanga Band that consisted of stars like Andy Brown and the late Don Gumbo, among others – rose to fame with songs like “True Love” before forming her own group, the Band Rain.
In 2002, Busi joined the international group, Women’s Voices, and performed with Mari Boine apart from receiving the Nordic Council’s Music Award a year later.
The singer added another feather to her cap in 2005 when she received the BBC 3 World Music Award after performing with renowned Somali musician Maryam Mursal at Oslo Mela.
Mazuze will be performing at the Lay’s Global Stage from 3.45pm and jazz lovers should look forward to melodies from Mozambique from this extraordinarily talented star whose music is a blend of African chopi, muthimba rhythms, marabenta, maskanda and Latin jazz.
No wonder Ivan was nominated for the Best Contemporary Jazz Album at the South African Music Awards last year.
From Italy is the diva Paolette, who has put her country on the map with her infectious contemporary rhythms that are steeped in rock.
The artiste from Milan will host a concert at 7pm at the Lay’s Global Stage.
Backed by the Living Room Band, the performance has been billed as “unique music experience”.
Of course, there are various other acts expected to make the closing day as exciting as possible.
The closing night, like the opening ceremony, has also been one to look forward to and show-goers will be in a party mood and bid the festival farewell for another year in style.
