THE Business Against Crime Forum of Zimbabwe (Bacfoz) has condemned the brutal killing of a Bulawayo businessman, Noor Hussein, who was murdered by his employee and an accomplice after they bludgeoned him with wooden planks before strangling him with a towel.
Hussein, a Pakistani national, was 67 and is survived by his wife and children.
Bacfoz chairperson Mr Ishmael Jassat said the organisation was horrified by the “senseless” killing of Hussein.
“We condemn in the strongest terms the murder of Mr Hussein, a Bulawayo businessman who worked very hard to build a name for himself in the business sector.
“We are also worried about the surge in cases of innocent people being attacked by perpetrators using stun guns and pepper sprays,” he said.
“These devices are primarily for self-defence but we have noticed a worrying trend where they are being used to commit crime.”
Stun guns are non-lethal, close-contact self-defence devices that use high-voltage, low-amperage electricity to temporarily incapacitate an attacker.
Police have confirmed the arrest of a 24-year-old man for the alleged murder of Hussein at his family home in Kumalo suburb on 9 May.
The suspect has been identified by police as Kelvin Matambudziko Ndavambi. Police are on the hunt for a second suspect only identified as Dhlamini.
“ZRP has arrested Kelvin Matambudziko Ndavambi (24) for killing his employer, a foreign national, Noor Hussein (67) on 9 May 2026 while trying to rob him and his family in Kumalo suburb, Bulawayo.
“The suspect, who was in the company of an accomplice identified as Dhlamini went to the businessman’s residence and attacked him during the night while armed with pistols, wooden planks and strangled him with a towel in front of his family,” said national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi.
The suspect and his accomplice then fled the scene.
“The family raised the alarm, which prompted other family relatives to rush to the scene,” said Comm Nyathi.
The murder suspect was arrested in the Bulawayo city centre on Wednesday while trying to board a bus to Harare.
Meanwhile, police are appealing for information, which may lead to the arrest of Dhlamini.
