Speaking at the launch on Wednesday, BBTN spokesperson Ms Edzai Marange said the forum would provide a platform for businesspeople in Bulawayo to network with captains of industry and other stakeholders to discuss pro-active strategies of growing their business ideas.
“BBTN is a high profile platform for business networking which seeks to assist businesspeople share and exchange leads and grow their circles of influence.
“We have planted the seed in Bulawayo today, we will be acting as midwives in identifying and grooming local talent in the community. Only the people from Bulawayo have the capability to identify market gaps existing in the city,” said Ms Marange.
She said network members will be meeting on the last Wednesday of every month to brainstorm business ideas which have potential to boost economic growth in Bulawayo.
“We are not satisfied with the attendance at the launch. People from Bulawayo should realise that they have the capability to rebuild Bulawayo rather than expecting outsiders to come up with initiatives.
“We intend to install a paradigm shift in individualistic thinking to a networking mindset. If people in Harare are engaging in business networking so can people from Bulawayo,” said Ms Marange.
Miss Tsungirirayi Fundira said forum attendants will be provided with insight on current trends in the market and promote intra-industrial collaboration which stimulates business growth.
“We are open to working with major players in the industry, so they can assist in mentoring aspiring entreprenuers in our monthly discussions since they have experience as captains of industry.
“We have already partnered Econet which will be sponsoring our February breakfast discussion in Harare,” she said.
She said businesspeople in the city should attend the discussions since the forum would be inviting a cross- section of emerging and seasoned speakers, who have first hand experience on business dynamics.
She said the BBTN intended to launch another business forum in Mutare on 28 February.
