THE owner of Tackers Transport Company is accused of defrauding Tech Web Engineering company after he allegedly failed to supply a full delivery of 70000 bricks after he had won a tender to supply bricks to Binga Primary School.
A source close to the incident said Waison Takavarasha, the owner of Tackers Transport Company won a tender to supply 27 loads of bricks (270 000 bricks) at a cost of US$44000 to Binga Primary School. After the deal was struck, Tech Web Engineering and Construction Company paid the money to Tackers Transport.
It is said Tackers Transport company delivered 20 loads of bricks (20000 bricks) on different occasions at Binga Primary School. The source said Tackers Transport company, however, failed to supply a further seven loads of bricks (70 000 bricks).
“We tried to engage him but he kept on promising us that he would supply the bricks. After several months of waiting we decided to buy the seven loads of bricks and delivered them at Binga Primary School,” said the company’s Loss control manager Bhekinkosi Ncube.
He said they reported the matter to the police and it was recorded under case number IR 5494/24.
“We have tried to get our money back without success. He is owing us seven loads of bricks costing US$12600,” said Ncube.
However, Takavarasha denied the accusations and said: “What they told you is not true. I supplied the bricks but they complained about some of the bricks which were broken.”
